Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) and American Public Media (APM) announced today the successful completion of Inspired by You, an ambitious five-year campaign designed to address the rapidly changing digital landscape and make transformative changes to better serve audiences in Minnesota and beyond.
The Current is pleased to announce Jade as the station’s new Music Director. Jade has been a part of The Current’s team since 2008, getting her start as an overnight host. She can be heard on The Current weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue hosting her regular midday shift in addition to her responsibilities as Music Director.
MPR News has been selected as a host newsroom with Report for America, a national service reporting program. The assigned journalist will focus on telling solutions-related stories that offer new perspectives on immigration and highlight people within the Latino community.
American Public Media Group (APMG) announced that Lunar Startups, a program of the organization’s Glen Nelson Center, is launching as an independent nonprofit with a mission to create a more equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem. Thanks to support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, APMG’s Glen Nelson Center served as Lunar Startups’ program incubator for the past three years, making it possible for Lunar to now scale its impact as an independent entity.
Classical MPR has announced Joe Goetz as its new music director. As Classical MPR’s music director, Goetz will oversee daily programming needs and classical music selections and will serve on the team dedicated to driving Classical MPR’s long-term strategies and goals, as well as those for American Public Media’s national classical programming.
MPR has been awarded a $250,000 grant by the Otto Bremer Trust to build on work being done at MPR to increase cultural fluency within the organization and support new and expanded engagement with Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) communities across Minnesota.
Minnesota Public Radio has elected Kandace Heck as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Heck currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Audit Executive at U.S. Bank.
After an extensive national search, Jon McTaggart, president and CEO of American Public Media Group and CEO of Minnesota Public Radio, today announced that Duchesne Drew has been named president of MPR.
In response to growing concerns surrounding COVID-19, Minnesota Public Radio will cancel all public events beginning March 14 through April 24.
