Minnesota Public Radio announces eight new board members to its Board of Trustees

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) announces today the election of eight new members to its Board of Trustees. Four of the new Trustees joined the MPR board in early December and four will join in April 2026, following a national search with Potrero Group. This is the organization’s first public search for new Trustees and advisory council members. 

The Current hires Amber Hoback as new music director

The Current has announced that Amber Hoback will serve as music director for the station. Hoback started at The Current in June. The station also announced programming changes this summer, including longtime weekend host Mac Wilson officially taking over hosting weekday evenings on The Current.  

YourClassical names Valerie Kahler as new host of Performance Today®

Today, American Public Media (APM) announces that following a national search, Valerie Kahler has been chosen as the next host of YourClassical’s Performance Today®. Last July, APM announced Fred Child’s plans to step down from Performance Today in October 2025, completing a 25-year run as host of America’s most popular classical music radio show.  

Performance Today selects Jessie Montgomery as 2025 Classical Woman of the Year

YourClassical’s Performance Today®, the national classical music radio program hosted by Fred Child from American Public Media, announced today that Jessie Montgomery has been named the 2025 Classical Woman of the Year. This prestigious title is awarded to exceptional women who have made significant contributions to the world of classical music and who provide inspiration for listeners. 

The Current Celebrates 20 years on-air with two shows in January

On Jan. 24, 2025, The Current, one of Minnesota Public Radio’s three services, will celebrate 20 years of being on-air, online, and in the community. Since playing its first song (Atmosphere’s “Say Shh”), the station has won over a loyal local audience, become an industry leader within the Triple A radio format nationwide, helped launch the careers of well-known artists, and grown into a far-reaching community, with members and online listeners from around the world.
