September 16, 2021
As many students and educators return to the physical classroom for the first time since the pandemic began, how can we work together to prevent Minnesota’s disparities in educational outcomes from worsening? What challenges do students, parents and educators face after a prolonged period of distance learning, and how do we address them in a way that works toward equity and inclusion?
MPR News host Angela Davis moderates our latest In Focus event, a conversation with parents, teachers and advocates about navigating the transition back to in-person learning.

They don't remember their parents dying on 9/11. But they'll never forget
September 11, 2021
Twenty years ago this week, on Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists launched coordinated attacks on the U.S. using airplanes as their weapons.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed.
Many of those who died left behind children who were so young they never got to know their parents. A new generation has grown up over the past two decades with few if any memories of those they lost; perhaps just a hazy glimpse that continues to fade over the years, or a faint echo of a voice.
These are some of their stories.

Bring the Sing: Join us in Duluth for an Oktoberfest sing-along on Sept. 25
September 5, 2021
Bring the Sing strives to build community and interpersonal ties through communal singing and to connect participants in a fun and unique way. In a few short weeks, Classical MPR is bringing the Twin Cities Beer Choir along to lead an Oktoberfest sing-along.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a beer choir if there wasn’t beer, and there will be plenty of it at the new outdoor grounds of Bent Paddle. Food trucks and music from the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra will arrive at noon and entertain everyone before the 1:30 p.m. start time.
Let us know you’re planning to come — and be one of the first 150 to get a free pint glass — by signing up now.
BRING THE SING - DULUTH
When: Noon-3:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25.
Where: Bent Paddle Brewing Co., 1832 W. Michigan St., Duluth.
Admission: Free.
