Minneapolis commission considers a new Police Department proposal

An alternative to a move by the Minneapolis City Council to remove the Police Department from the city's charter is in the works. The Minneapolis Charter Commission will listen to public testimony Monday evening on its own measure that does not make changes on the same scale as the City Council's amendment.

While this isn’t a new conversation, more educators are starting to rethink how to teach a more complete history of the United States that includes experiences from Black and Indigenous people and other communities of color.

Minnesota’s mask mandate: What you need to know

After calls from public health officials and several days of signaling support for a statewide mask order, Gov. Tim Walz Wednesday finally issued a rule requiring people to wear masks or face coverings in public indoor spaces in Minnesota.
More than half of U.S. states have issued similar mandates. So have most major Minnesota cities, including Minneapolis and St. Paul, Duluth, Rochester and St. Cloud.
