An Tran: Stay, My Beloved

Guitarist An Tran has a treasured photograph. In it, he is a young child and his parents are lifting him high overhead at their home in Vietnam. He remembers that at that moment his parents were singing what he describes as "the most beautiful melody ever:" a Vietnamese folk song translated as "Stay, My Beloved." It was a grounding moment in Tran's childhood and the song is the backbone of his new album, "Stay, My Beloved."

MPR Archive: Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair, better known as The Great Minnesota Get-Together, has a permanent home on 320 acres along Snelling Avenue in St. Paul. The fairgrounds' historical buildings host a slew of exhibitors, plants, animals, arts, and plenty of jam. Other big attractions include the various foods on a stick, carnival rides, livestock shows and grandstand performances. Then there is the MPR booth located on Judson and Nelson. A perfect spot to relax those feet, check out some live programing, and enjoy the popular activity of people watching.

Minnesota university life during COVID-19 to include dorm 'stay-at-home,' curfews

University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel said in the initial phase, students in university housing will spend the first 10 days on average in a “dorm version of a stay-at-home order,” broken only when they attend class, go to work, eat or exercise. By the end of September, students will have to follow curfews starting at 9 p.m.

Starting this week, farmers in parts of Minnesota will face new restrictions on how they apply nitrogen fertilizer. The regulations are aimed at reducing nitrate contamination in the state's groundwater. But whether they'll have a real impact on a growing health and environmental problem is still up for debate.
