Charlotte Smith is a nonprofit development leader with more than two decades of experience advancing mission‑driven organizations through strategic fundraising, donor engagement, and collaborative leadership. Her expertise spans major and planned giving, capital campaigns, and board partnership, with a career rooted in public media, education, and community‑based nonprofits.
Charlotte joined MPR | APM in 2022 as a Major & Planned Giving Officer. She serves as Manager, Development Initiatives, where she leads strategic philanthropic efforts to deepen donor engagement and inspire generosity in support of MPR’s mission. A core component of her work includes overseeing donor engagement initiatives at the local, regional, and national levels.
Previously, Charlotte held senior development and admissions leadership roles at independent schools and served as executive director of a college access center, reflecting a long‑standing commitment to education, access, and community impact.
She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College. Charlotte is based at the Kling Public Media Center in St. Paul and works remotely from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
