Volunteers will repackage bulk produce into individual or family-size packages. These fresh items go to our nearly 1,000 partner agencies & programs, including food shelves and feeding programs throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin that serve our hungry neighbors. This is an active role where volunteers stand for the duration of the shift; stools or accommodations available upon request. Volunteers age 8+ are welcome to participate in this free activity, but please have a guardian fill out the registration form below.

Items to Note:

  • Second Harvest Heartland advises volunteers with food allergies to exercise caution when determining whether to participate in food packing. We cannot guarantee an allergy-free environment.

  • For food safety reasons, we require you wear closed-toed shoes and remove all jewelry (please remove jewelry before coming to volunteer or we have lockers where belongings can be stored). We recommend dressing in layers for the warehouse environment. Clothing must be clean prior to handling food, free of any dangling beads or other items that could potentially contaminate the food we are packing. Underarms and shoulders must be covered (no tank tops).

  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the shift start time to complete registration. The shift will begin promptly at your start time listed.

  • If applicable, take note of our important youth guidelines(age 8+ can volunteer) and ensure all youth volunteers under 18 come with a signed parental waiver and are accompanied by an adult.
