Anthony Cox accompanied Quincy Troupe at the Fitzgerald Theater on February 12, 2003.
Talking Volumes is pleased to welcome local jazz bassist Anthony Cox to share the stage with Quincy Troupe.

Cox was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He grew up in Minneapolis and studied music at the University of Wisconsin in the '70s. In Minneapolis, he studied under James Clute, assistant principal bassist of the Minnesota Orchestra.

Anthony Cox is a Twin Cities jazz bassist.
He moved to New York in 1981, right into the thick of the Big Apple's jazz scene, working with the likes of Sam Rivers, Elvin Jones, Henry Threadgill, David Murray, and Craig Harris. He came back to Minneapolis in the early '90s, where he continues to be in demand and an inspiration in the local jazz community.

Cox is featured on more than a hundred recordings by musicians such as Geri Allen, Dewey Redman, Dave Douglas, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Gary Thomas, Marty Ehrlich, Ed Blackwell, and Joe Lovano. His work is influenced by music from all around the world.
